Facebook Page, How to Set One Up

What’s the point of having a Facebook page? 

Facebook pageA Facebook page is an excellent way to connect with your customers and build a following for your company. It ranks up there with Pinterest in terms of importance. So, on the bottom Facebook pageof your web pages, have a Facebook logo with a link to your Facebook page.

Facebook pages are a way to gather your customers, prospects, and fans to comment on your products, share opinions, voice concerns, and offer feedback.

Setup

 

Steps from the above Facebook page video

  1. Go to facebook.com/pages/create.
  2. Click Get Started to choose your board type.
  3. Fill out the required information.
    1. Add a page name that reflects your branding.
    2. Enter a word or two that describes your business.
    3. Click on the category that best describes your page.
    4. (My business is worldwide. However, that includes local. So, I chose local as the closest word that describes my category.)
    5. I clicked Continue and got new boxes to fill in my address, etc.
    6. Then click continue and upload a profile picture.
    7. Then click Upload a Cover Photo. (Your cover photo displays at 820 pixels wide by 312 pixels tall on computers and 640 pixels wide by 360 pixels tall on smartphones.) I double clicked on what I thought might be an appropriate picture.
    8. The top of the cover photo I uploaded did not appear on myFacebook page. I tell you below how I fixed it.
    9. Click Add a Button.
    10. Choose why a person may want to click a button. I chose Learn more about your business.
    11. I selected the Learn More radio button.
    12. I decided to send them to a website link that would describe my business. I pressed Cmd V to paste the link to my Fiverr gig and then clicked Save.
    13. Click Finish.
    14. Now your job is to click on your Facebook friends’ names to get people to like your new page. If you save your page and then return, you will not be able to add more friends. So, do it right the first time.

    How to set up a Facebook page cover photo


    Notes on the above video

    1. Open up GIMP. (GIMP is something like a free version of Photoshop.)
    2. Click File and open up the original picture you wanted as a cover photo.
    3. Click on Image > Scale Image.
    4. Make it 820 pixels wide.
    5. Click Scale.
    6. Right click beneath the name of your picture & click on New Layer.
    7. Make sure it is transparent & click OK.
    8. Notice that you have a transparent layer above WordPress gears layer.
    9. Merge Down to Insert the transparent layer beneath the gears layer.
    10. Click Fuzzy Select Tool icon to select everything that is solid white.
    11. Click on solid white portions and press delete to remove the white sections one at a time.
    12. Each time, more of the transparent layer below will be revealed.
    13. Click the eyedropper tool.
    14. Click on a light colour in the gears.
    15. Notice the top colour box has changed to the colour of the gear.
    16. Click the arrow to change it into the bottom layer. That will be the background colour of any new layer created.
    17. File >  Create > New.
    18. You will have a new rectangle the colour of the gear.
    19. Click on Image > Scale Image.
    20. Notice that you have to click on the chain link icon to remove the requirement that the width & height retain their proportions.
    21. Make sure the width and height are 820 and 312 respectively and click scale.
    22. Click on the gear picture with the transparent layer.
    23. Click on Image > Scale Image.
    24. Make the height 312 pixels and click scale.
    25. Click on the Select icon in the upper left and right away click on the image.
    26. Cmd C to save it into your clipboard.
    27. Click on solid rectangle at top.
